Getting started
What is locum tenens?
Locum tenens is temporary clinical work: you cover a hospital or surgery center for a set period, from a few days to many months, at an hourly or daily rate agreed in writing before you start. HSP matches you with the facility, handles the credentialing paperwork, provides malpractice coverage and pays you for the work; the facility sets the shift schedule, and the anesthesia is yours.
Who does Hospital Staffing Partners place?
CRNAs, CAAs (Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants) and anesthesiologists, including cardiac and pediatric anesthesiologists. HSP staffs anesthesia only, so every recruiter you talk to knows the difference between a CRNA, a CAA and an MD, what an ACT model means for your day, and what a credentialing packet for an anesthesia provider actually needs.
Is HSP a locum tenens agency or a permanent placement firm?
Both. Most of our openings are locum tenens; we also fill PRN shifts and permanent positions, where the facility hires you as its own employee, and we help facilities convert a locum provider to a permanent hire when both sides want that. Our agreements carry no non-compete, and we do not own your name or your CV.
Where does HSP have work?
HSP is headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with operations in seven states and placements across the Southeast and Midwest. Open positions today are in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Texas.
How do I get started?
Create a provider account at
hospitalstaffingpartners.com/register, or call 813-434-0480. A recruiter will learn what you are looking for, and send you the openings that fit. There is no fee to join and no obligation to accept an assignment.
Can I see the rate before I talk to a recruiter?
Yes. Every listing on our job board shows the rate range, the city and state, the assignment type and the start date.
Who sets my schedule?
You tell us the dates you are available and decide which assignments to accept. The facility schedules its shifts from the availability you give it; HSP does not set your hours, supervise your work or evaluate you.
Can I work through my own company, or with other agencies?
Yes. Many of our providers contract through their own LLC, PLLC or professional corporation, and HSP pays that company directly. You are free to work with other agencies and in your own practice at the same time.
Pay
How does pay work at HSP?
Your rates are in the confirmation letter for each assignment, in writing before you accept: the rate for the work, any rate that applies beyond the scheduled shift or after a set number of hours in a week, the call rate, and any minimum hours the facility has agreed to. You submit the hours you worked each week, the facility approves them, and HSP pays you or your company by direct deposit.
How often does HSP pay?
Every two weeks, by direct deposit to you or your company, for the work on your approved timesheets.
Am I a 1099 contractor or a W-2 employee?
Locum tenens and PRN providers work with HSP as independent contractors (1099). You sign an independent contractor agreement and provide a W-9 when you join. HSP does not employ providers; when you take a permanent position, the facility employs you directly on its own terms.
Does HSP hide a margin in my rate?
No. HSP charges facilities a fixed hourly fee on top of your rate, so your rate is your rate. What you see on the offer is what you are paid. Because our fee does not change with your rate, a higher rate the facility agrees to goes to you.
About HSP
Who is behind Hospital Staffing Partners?
Hospital Staffing Partners was founded in Tampa, Florida in September 2022 by Todd Horowitz, D.O., a board-certified anesthesiologist who spent 14 years as a clinical medical director and then worked locum tenens himself, and Aaron L. Gordon, Esq., a corporate attorney. Dr. Horowitz is the CEO; Mr. Gordon is the COO and General Counsel. Dr. Horowitz still works clinically, including cardiac anesthesia coverage at HSP facilities.
How is HSP different from a national locums company?
HSP does anesthesia and nothing else, it is run by a practicing anesthesiologist, and its fee to facilities is a fixed hourly amount rather than a hidden spread on your rate. You get a recruiter who answers the phone and knows your specialty, not a call center. When your schedule, call or days off need to change, we take it up with the facility for you.
Is there an app?
Yes. The HSP provider app for iPhone and Android holds your assignments, timesheets, credentials and pay in one place. Create your account on the website first, then sign in on the app.
